These figures are carved from kiln-dried basswood. I carve each Indian by hand, thus yours will differ somewhat from the ones shown here. This means yours will be an original, no one will ever have an exact copy. I apply a stain and finish to each one before I paint it with oil based paint. This ensures a smooth, durable, and transparent looking piece, allowing the natural grain of the wood to show. Let me get started on one for you!

     Roughouts are made using high quality northern basswood. Some have been laminated due to the size of the figure. Butternut roughouts are available for special requests, though due to the shortage of good butternut it may take longer to get and be a little higher priced. Each roughout comes with a full-color pattern showing all four sides of one of my more recent carvings of that figure.
